Introduction
Art and cultural artifacts have a deep influence on human thought and behavior and
the way people view things. Art often acts as a platform to reveal how people relate their
narratives at different levels with some common phenomenon represented through works of
art (Goldman, 2022). Pan’s Labyrinth created by Guillermo del Toro, is a perfect example of
an artwork that combines fantasy and reality to present themes of innocence, brutality, and
resistance. This essay explores the creative process behind “Pan’s Labyrinth” and how
collaborative efforts shape artistic expression and interpretation. I discussed this film with a
friend of mine, to understand the layers of meaning within the film and to understand how it
influences and reflects human experiences from a perspective different from mine
(Camarena, 2021).
Reflection on How Culture and Artistic Expressions Influence Human Thought and
Behavior
Pan’s Labyrinth serves as an example to show the impact that culture combined with
art can have on human thought, behavior, and perception. Created during the post-Civil War
era in Spain, the film combines historical reality with elements of fantasy, creating a narrative
that helps its audience to reflect on themes of authoritarianism, rebellion, and the loss of
innocence (Camarena, 2021)
