Overview
Evidence based practice in nursing can significantly contribute to safe, quality nursing practice.
Utilizing the most up to date research in the field can assist in enhancing the care environment
and nursing practices. For instance, nursing research indicated that shaving patients in
preparation for surgery actually increased their risk of post-operation infection. In this instance,
nurses were able to change practice to ensure safer patient care and outcomes. This course will
expose you to principles of scientific inquiry that are used in the study of nursing problems.
