Current Events Project

Students will present to the class a PowerPoint presentation on a current event. The focus of this project is to encourage students to engage in global issues outside of American domestic issues. Students should look for political, social, or cultural topics that present a problem such as human trafficking, environmental issues, conflict in war zones, or issues of conflict resolution. This project has to be global in scope. This is a current event assignment so the issue must be one with current implications. Students will following instructions.

1. Student will prepare a 10 min Powerpoint presentation. Each presentation must have the following:

             A. Slide 1: Title slide with your topic, website or source you attained your information.

            B. Slide 2: Why did you choose your topic? Why did you think it’s important?

           C. Slide 3: State the location of the world, culture, nation-state, ethnicity, race, gender or etc., that is affected by the problem. 

           D. Slide 4: State the problem or issue you identified and explain it.

           E. Slide 5: What is the solution to the problem you identified.

           F. Slide 6: How does your issue affect society.

          G. Slide 7: What did you learn for doing the project and why do you think staying informed in world events are important?

NOTE: Students are not limited to inputing slides A-G. You are allowed to also insert addition information. STUDENTS MOST RECORD THIER PRESENTATION IN POWERPOINT FORMAT, SEE DEMONSTRATION BELOW.

3. SUBMIT your presentation on Blackboard. Be prepared to present your presentation to the class.
